Did Teri Hatcher battle anorexia?
Published: January 30, 2010
Eating disorders have been associated with celebrities for a long time now since for them their looks earn them their living. Some female celebrities like Teri Hatcher literally starve themselves to almost skeletal dimensions with a wrong notion of improving their chances at getting more roles. Teri Hatcher of ‘Desperate Housewives’ fame also fell prey to the workings of the showbiz industry and drastically cut down on food to maintain a skinny appearance.
At one time, during her unpleasant experience with anorexia, Hatcher was reduced to a pin-sized body and hit the headlines of almost every publication. Denying the anorexia rumors, Teri firmly stated that she lives a healthy life and is very much concerned about her young female fans. Brushing it off as a malicious rumor, this Golden Globe Award winner once said: “To think that I would need to stop eating and be anorexic and sick to get a job is the wrong message to send to girls and women in our society and that really bugs me.”
The skinniest of the ‘Desperate Housewives’, Teri Hatcher always raised her voice for living a healthy life and was quoted as saying: “I am all about health and to me size is not what defines your health. It never crossed my mind that if I was thinner, I would get more jobs.”
This skinny actress, better known for the role of ‘Susan Mayer’ claims that she believes in careful eating and clearing the air about her eating disorder, Hatcher said: “’The only thing I’m guilty of is being too athletic and refusing to eat garbage. I eat a lot of fruit”.
Whether it is embarrassment or sheer denial that prevents her from admitting the truth, we will never know. But it is good to know that she does not endorse starving yourself for better roles.
Other celebrities who have suffered from eating disorders include fellow ‘Desperate Housewives’ co-star Felicity Huffman, Mary-Kate Olsen,Sharon Osbourne, Daniel Johns and Jane Fonda.

Most Celebs and models are anorexia patients but never admit it openly for fear of embarrassment.
Recently Nicole Richie has been in the news claiming she is not an anorexic.

I personally think whether she has issues with eating disorders or not is completely her business, and if she is going through it and still doing her best not to put forward a bd example for girls and women then she is certainly a inspiration to me. I know what it’s like to go through an eating disorder, i have no idea whether she has one or not but she doesn’t need all of these jackass rumours emerging from a few pictures… i think Teri is still amazing and beautiful and i hope i’m half what she is when i finlly make a living. xxx
