Socializing helps in fighting cancer, says a study
Published: July 11, 2010
A new health report published in www.telegraph.co.uk says that socializing is proven to fight cancer. The fact has been proved by a research led by Mathew During from the Ohio State University. The research showed that when the person stresses while interacting, the cancer tumors can shrink or go on decreasing in size. The study has suggested that people suffering from cancer should change their lifestyle and start socializing in order to see improvements in their disease. The earlier researches had proved that stress is not good for body, but this research shows that a manageable stress level is god for body and helps in fighting with diseases.
A good amount of importance has to be given to the lifestyle of the cancer patients apart from relying on the clinical treatments. As published in www.dailymail.co.uk, Mathew said that “Traditionally working on the area of lifestyle and the brain has been a ‘soft area’. This paper really suggests if we look at people more in terms of their perceptions of disease, their social interactions and environment, we could realize a profound influence on cancer.” The research was done on mice and it was seen that the ones who live in bigger groups saw improvement in their condition. A reduction of 75% was seen in the mice. Some of the mice showed no signs of cancer after a span of three weeks.
