Teenagers getting sunburnt in desperation to get a tan

Around one-fourth of the teenagers are taking the risk of getting skin cancer as they burn their skin in the sun in order to get the tan, says a health report published by www.dailymail.co.uk. The research has been done by a teenager cancer trust poll and it has been found out that 26% of the children aged 13-19 will be burning their skin this summer in order to get a tanned body. It has also been proved that 31% of the teens never use a sun-block cream in Britain. One of the most shocking facts is that half of the teenagers think that sun is less harsh in Britain as compared to the other parts of the world. Teenagers who think like this are risking their skin by exposing it to sun, thinking that they will get tanned skin. The skin gets burnt and the teenagers can also develop skin cancer.

According to the report by www.mirror.co.uk the cases of malignant melanoma have quadrupled in the past 30 years in Britain. While carrying out the survey, it was found out that 22% of the teenagers fell asleep in the sun and had burnt their skin badly. Three-fourths of the teenagers thought that there was zero risk of getting burnt on a cloudy day. The cancer trust has decided that it will be intimating the teenagers with the help of text messages. The chief executive of the trust said we can stop just one young person from developing skin cancer, it will be worth it.’
