Bill Clinton rushed to hospital

Bill Clinton was hospitalized in New York after complaining of chest pains. The former president had had a quadruple bypass surgery just six years ago, in 2004, after being found to have 90 percent blockage in his arteries. Read about Bill Clinton’s bypass.

RadarOnline.com reports the president, who had reportedly been fighting a cold since being worn out from his trip to Haiti, had two stents (metal tube that open blood vessel to improve bloodflow) implanted, and quotes a statement made by the ex-president’s counselor, Douglas Band: “Today President Bill Clinton was admitted to the Columbia Campus of New York Presbyterian Hospital after feeling discomfort in his chest.

“Following a visit to his cardiologist, he underwent a procedure to place two stents in one of his coronary arteries. President Clinton is in good spirits, and will continue to focus on the work of his Foundation and Haiti’s relief and long-term recovery efforts.”

People.com reports that his wife, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and his newly-engaged daughter Chelse were with him at the hospital.

63-year-old Clinton is reportedly expected to heal quickly, People reports. His surgeon, Dr. Allan Schwartz, told them Clinton “did not have a heart attack or damage his heart” and that “the procedure went smoothly”. He also expects Clinton to “resume his very active lifestyle”.

Bill Clinton had a quadruple bypass due to a cholesterol problem.
