Helen Mirren Blackmailed by Hypocrite, and Voted ‘Body of the Year’

Respected British Dame, Helen Mirren has received threats for defiantly refusing to pull out of a film she is currently filming regarding the controversial life of eccentric seminal music producer Phil Spector.

The film – which also features Al Pacino as the protagonist – has been filming in the state of New York and is believed to sympathise with Spector, who was jailed for murder, claiming that he was wrongly incarcerated. Director David Mamet is responsible for the movie, and has also called for Spector’s release.

Spector was very influential during the 1960s and his name is associated with the likes of The Beatles, Ike and Tina Turner, and The Ramones. He also pioneered the innovative ‘wall of sound’ – a recording technique characterised by a dense layering of different sounds.

Phil Spector: subject of a controversial new film starring Helen Mirren and Al Pacino.

He was accused of second degree murder in 2003 after actress Lana Clarkson was shot dead on his premises using his own firearm. An incident that Spector claimed was accidental suicide. The producer was imprisoned in 2009 and is serving a 19-year to life sentence in the same Californian prison where Charles Manson is currently looking at the world through bars and swastika tinted glasses.

A campaign group – Friends of Lana Clarkson – have taken umbrage over Helen Mirren’s participation in the pro-Spector production and the actress has received a letter of protestation from the group. But according to a spokesmen for the Dame, “She’s in the movie. She’s not dropping out. That’s all she’s saying.”

The campaigners are backed by Edward Lozzi, a Hollywood publicity agent and a number of influential supporters who they claim will prevent actors who participate in the movie from being considered for awards.

Isn’t that called blackmail?

Helen Mirren in Caligula - no stranger to controversial film roles

Lozzi and the group are apparently ‘dismayed’ at Helen Mirren’s participation in the film which according to Lozzi is an “insensitive attempt to portray the loathsome, lying, gun-abusing convicted murderer of our friend Lana Clarkson with some kind of sympathy.” It’s worth mentioning here that Lozzi was formerly a press aide to George Bush – a president who condoned the killing of thousands of Iraqi citizens in the name of terrorism, whilst secretly raping the country of its oil. There is no hypocrisy in that loathsome tactic at all of course.

Lozzi and his band of merry men are also mounting a boycott of the studio that is producing the film unless it agrees to abandon the project.

Isn’t that called blackmail?

“We have great respect for Helen Mirren,” said Lozzi. “What we hope is that when she reads this script and sees Lana is being trashed, she will speak up and say, ‘This is not right.’

“Helen Mirren probably didn’t know about The Friends of Lana Clarkson when she agreed to take the role – it would have been just another job to her. But now that she is aware, we ask her to examine her conscience.”

Mirren’s character in the biopic is Spector’s lawyer Linda Kenney Baden – who claims that the suicidal actress was so very depressed by disappointments in her career that she shot herself using Phil Spector’s revolver.  Whereas The Friends of Lana Clarkson clearly believe that Spector murdered the actress.

Helen Mirren: boycotted from receiving an Emmy for film about Phil Spector. Except she already has one. Oh.

The actress received a letter informing her that she should “do the right thing” or face “consequences”. The letter concludes with a final threat: “Know that we are serious”.

The truculent lobbyists already convinced Bette Midler – who was originally contracted to play the ‘controversial’ role to drop her involvement.

It must feel good for a group of people to threaten women in their mid-sixties and what The Friends of Lana Clarkson fails to realise is that their public complaining will only fuel the public’s desire to see the movie, thus giving it the publicity they purportedly wish to avoid. Clever ‘friends’.

Helen Mirren has already won enough awards. What meaning does an award have when you realise the nomination process can be so easily prejudiced and corrupted anyway? Surely she has enough pointless ornaments to polish on her mantelpiece as it is.

Helen Mirren really needs another Emmy.

Strange how there’s no mention of Al Pacino receiving threats for his involvement in the movie. Maybe they only prey on older women.

It’s not all doom and gloom and inappropriate threats (by a group backed by someone who supported one of the most nefarious politicians America has ever known) for Dame Helen Mirren; she has been voted Body of the Year in an LA Fitness poll, beating the likes of Elle ‘the body’ McPherson and Jennifer ‘the ass’ Lopez.
