Pregnant man’s thunder stolen by Chaz Bono

Pregnant man Thomas Beatie reckons he should have been picked for this season’s “Dancing with the Stars”, but that he had his offer stolen off him by Chaz Bono - an American transgender advocate.
“Chaz Bono stole my thunder,” he tells TMZ, adding that he had contacted the show’s casting team a few months back in the hope of landing a spot, but never got a call back. But when DWTS announced they would be taking on Bono, Beatie decided it was time to speak up agaist the injustice.
Now, Beatie claims he was not picked because the transgender quota had already been filled and not because he has done nothing in the least bit extraordinary with his life other than get his breasts removed and get pregnant.
He says he understands why producers would not cast two famous transgender people side by side, but says he is pretty disappointed nonetheless. “I wanted to try my new body out. I’m an athlete and I know I would have excelled.”
Chaz Bono is the only child famous musical duo Sonny and Cher had together. Born Chastity Sun Bono, Chaz came out as a lesbian in 1995, not much to the initial appreciation of her gay icon mother. But Cher soon came around, and even started getting involved in LGBT rights campaign work alongside her daughter. Chaz’s father, however, was less tolerant, especially after he became a Republican Congressman.
In 2008, Bono began undergoing physical and social gender transition from female to male. The legal transition was completed in 2010. In the meanwhile, Chaz had a film made documenting his journey, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and the rights to which were later acquired by Oprah.
In 2010, Beatie was joined by Scott Moore - another transgender man to give birth.
