Aamir’s TV debut gets thumbs up from celebrities

Superstar Aamir Khan’s much anticipated TV debut ‘Satyamev Jayate’ got a thumbs up from the Hindi film industry.

On Sunday morning, the celebrities took to their Twitter account and bestowed their positive reactions about the show that focused on social and real life issues.

The one-and-a-half-hour show on Sunday threw light on the issue of female foeticide in India. Case studies of three women residing in Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Ahmedabad were presented.

“Watching Aamir Khan on Satyamev Jayate discussing female foeticide, I love this effort from him and thank him as a woman!,” posted Preity Zinta.

Salman Khan also urged people to watch the show. “Spend your Sunday with Aamir Khan’s Satyamev Jayate on Star Plus. Don’t miss it sharp 11 a.m.”

“I always wanted something like this on TV. Thank you Aamir for stirring people who think Sundays are meant to be ‘lazy’ and ‘others’ problems are not theirs,” tweeted Dia Mirza.

Meanwhile ‘Satyamev Jayate’ was on Sunday screened in many villages which do not have access to television sets.

The first episode, which dealt with the issue of female foeticide, got a special screening at a centrally located place or a town hall of the villages in Bhingara and Kahupatta in Maharashtra, Jhunkar in Madhya Pradesh, Khannapurwa, Lalpur Sarauta and Maaniram in Uttar Pradesh and many more.

In order to make sure that the show reached the entire country, it is also being telecast in multiple languages and on Doordarshan.
