Katy Perry joins Jessica Simpson in anti-acne campaign

Published: February 10, 2021

Proactiv has seen some pretty big names speaking for its anti-acne treatment, including P Diddy, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Alicia Keys and Mandy Moore. This has prompted the question - how much is this really about acne treatment? Several online sources, including Associated Content, claim that Simpson found the answer to her skin problem in powerful medicine Accutane and not Proactiv.

According to Celebrity Scum, Simpson was quoted on the Proactiv website as saying: “I just had so much build-up and so many clogged pores that once I started using Proactiv Solution, my face was just shining…I’m passionate about Proactiv because it worked for me and it gave me so much confidence.”

Whether it was what really cured her acne or not, the singer was said to be so happy with the partnership that she renewed the contract for another year in 2007. All for a handsome $3 million. According to the New York Post, her business manager, David Levin, said: “(Jessica) did re-sign for another year. She has a great relationship with them.”

Proactiv’s new spokesperson is no step down from Jessica Simpson. Singer Katy Perry, who is newly engaged to TV personality Russell Brand, will become the face of the acne cream for no less than $4 million. She will be joined by rock chick Avril Lavigne and The Office star Jenna Fischer, who are also said to have closed multi-million dollar deals.

Talking about her acne trouble to Cosmopolitan magazine, Perry revealed: “I got acne at the start of my career. It was stressful. I have acne scars which I’m self-conscious about.“

In the meantime, Proactiv spokesman Ben Van de Bunt has stated: “We are paying people consistent with what we have done in the past - millions of dollars,” according to Digital Spy.

TV commercials and print ads featuring the female stars are set to be released in due course and will be made public in over 58 countries, the newsprovider reported.

Cameron Diaz has also battled acne.

Other celebrities suffering from skin problems include singers LeAnn Rimes and Seal.
