Lindsay Lohan loses film role but leaves rehab for Thanksgiving

Published: November 25, 2020

Lindsay Lohan has been axed from her upcoming role as porn star Linda Lovelace, but has been released from rehab to spend Thanksgiving with her formerly estranged father, Michael.

According to The Sun, the actress has been allowed out from the Betty Ford Center for 15 hours to enjoy the festivities, but will have to return in the evening.

Lohan recently took part in family therapy sessions at the rehab facility together with her dad and mother Dina. Michael described the experience as “cleansing”, saying “We just want to put things back in order,” The Sun reports (click here to read about Lindsay’s recent reunion with her dad).

But it’s not all sunshine and roses for poor old Lindsay. The Mean Girls star has reportedly been dropped from her latest film project. Director and screenwriter of “Inferno” Matthew Wilder wrote on his Facebook page over the weekend that he had been forced to dismiss Lohan due to her ongoing problems, according to the Guardian.

Wilder reportedly said: “We stuck by her very patiently for a long time with a lot of love and support. The impossibility of insuring her and other issues have made it impossible for us to go forward.”

Lohan was due to play 1970s porn star Linda Lovelace in a biopic. Now, it seems Malin Akerman, who starred in the comic book adaptation “Watchmen”, will replace her.

Wilder’s screenplay landed on the 2008 Black List of the best unfilmed scripts in Hollywood, according to the Guardian, and is based on the book “Ordeal: An Autobiography by Lovelace and Mike McGrady.”

The 24-year-old, however, claims that it was her decision to quit the movie. According to The Sun, the star said the project “no longer felt right.”

Either way, Inferno could have played an important role in reviving Lohan’s career. She has lately been finding it difficult to secure regular acting work due to her personal struggles.

Linda Lovelace rose to fame after appearing in the 1972 flick Deep Throat. The pornographic film was the first of its kind, featuring a plot, character development and reasonably high production standards. It earned mainstream attention and launched the “porn chic” trend, despite being banned in several countries, including the UK, and subjected to obscenity trials in the US.

So it seems Lohan will now have even more time on her hands to concentrate on getting better. Although she now claims to be determined to quit alcohol and drugs, stopping smoking does not seem to be high on the agenda. TMZ have published photos of the young star taking some time out to have a quick cigarette earlier today.

Lindsay Lohan was ordered to enter rehab after she failed a drugs test. The star was arrested in September for breaching her conditions of bail before beginning treatment.
