Shenae Grimes is not sorry for smoking

Shenae Sonya Grimes is one of the sexiest, most beautiful young starlets Hollywood has to offer at the moment: and has been continuously criticized for her smoking habit. The 20-year-old began smoking when she was just 16.

The media has often reported the starlet being spotted with a cigarette in her hand, either while driving or walking around shopping. Set sources from her show ‘90210’, a spin-off of the 1990s TV hit ‘Beverly Hills 90210’, claim she chain smokes during her breaks.

In the face of criticism, the actress – who plays the role of Annie Wilson in ‘90210’ – is quick to point out that she is like most teenagers. Theinsider.com quotes her as saying: “I cant say that I am proud of it, but there are so many people struggling with the addiction nowadays.

“I started smoking at about 16, and 1 in 5 teenagers smoke,” she added.

Some smokers like to say that all people have vices and smoking is no different from other bad habits. But the fact is that you own yourself, so if you want to do something that destroys yourself, go ahead. Just don’t harm others when you do.

The former ‘Degrassi: The Next Generation’ actress, who was also heavily criticized for her skinny figure, instantly blamed her amazingly thin frame on a combination of high metabolism and cigarette addiction. Annoyed by the criticism levied on her on the issue of smoking, she retaliated by saying: “I smoke. My choice. I am sorry if you don’t like it, but this is who I am.”

She even blamed the media to bringing to the notice of the public about her nasty habit. Coutourecandy.com quotes Shenae as saying: “I’m sure you wouldn’t like it if someone pointed out all of your flaws and all of your mistakes… but that’s what the media does to us.”

Other celebrities who have not managed to quit smoking include Jack Nicholson, Lindsay Lohan, Christina Ricci and President Barack Obama.
