Rock legend and Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler has entered rehab, People Magazine reports. The stay at the rehabilitation facility is to help the singer overcome his addiction to pain killers as well as help him learn to manage his pain. People reports Tyler became addicted to the medication after a decade of injuries that have left him with chronic pain.

In a statement to People, Tyler said: “With the help of my family and team of medical professionals, I am taking responsibility for the management of my pain and am eager to be back on the stage and in the recording studio with my band mates Joe Perry, Joey Kramer, Tom Hamilton and Brad Whitford.“

“I am grateful for all of the support and love I am receiving and am committed to getting things taken care of.”

How long Tyler will be in rehab for is unknown at this time. He will be learning to manage his chronic pain without becoming addiction to medication.

Tyler’s last stint in rehab was in 1986, after nearly two decades of heavy drug use. Since successfully completing rehab, he has stayed sober for over two decades. Tyler isn’t the only one who entered rehab in the 1980s: every single member of Aerosmith sought treatment for drug abuse in a rehabilitation facility.
