One of the Hollywood beauties of 1930’s, Gloria Stuart is no more, says a report published in www.huffingtonpost.com. The actress was the oldest Academy Award nominee for her role in the famous movie ‘Titanic’ and was 100 years old. The reason behind her death was respiratory failure, claims her daughter Sylvia Thompson. It had been five years since she was diagnosed with lung cancer. She also suffered from breast cancer about 20 years ago but was brave enough to fight out the disease. She never gave any importance to illness and this is what helped her survive despite the illness.

When young, Stuart was a famous actress who starred in B movies as well as some good movies like “Gold Diggers of 1935’ and ‘Poor Little Rich Girl’, says a news story in www.msnbc.com. She opted out of movies in mid 1940’s. She went back to acting again in 1970’s and appeared in television shows and movies. James Cameron chose her to do the epic role in his movie Titanic. Stuart played the role of Rose Calvert. The role of young Rose was played by Kate Winslet. Both the actresses got Oscar nominations for their role in the movie.
