Derrick Burts wants to clean up porn

Derrick Burts is not a household name by any means, but the 24 year old porn star is leading the charge for the porn industry to supply condoms for their cast in a bid to stop actors contracting sexually transmitted diseases; especially HIV and AIDS.
A porn actor himself, he has decided to speak publicly of his fears and concerns over the state of the porn industry in the hope it will bring about much needed improvememnts in safety standards.
Burts, who also goes by the stage names Derek Chambers and Cameron Reid, was diagnosed with HIV after a test came back positive on October 8th, 2010. The examination was carried out at the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation in Sherman Oaks.
Derrick Burts has worked on both heterosexual and homosexual porn films, and in doing both he increased the risk of contracting an illness or infection. The diagnosis centre, the Adult Industry Clinic, declared that he contracted HIV through a personal encounter and it was not linked to his work, but Burts is in complete disagreement with their claims and said, “There is no possible way. The only person I had sex with in my personal life was my girlfriend.”
The clinic then changed their mind somewhat stating that it could have been linked to exposure to an HIV positive cast in a gay film he worked on.
During his career, Burts has so far fallen victim of Herpes, gonorrhoea and syphilis prior to contracting HIV, all of which came about as a result of infections in other actors. He is now campaigning for improved standards in the porn industry, starting with condoms and more stringent methods for testing actors before filming.

In a gay porn interview he said he was very excited about doing the gay porn, something he always wanted to do, just didn’t know how to get into. He said he enjoys gay porn more (than straight porn). It was not a surprise, considering his look.
In the AP interview he said his only sex outside of work was with his girlfriend. Right! A guy that always wanted to do gay porn but didn’t know how to get into had sex outside of work only with his girlfriend? It’s hard to believe.
