Timbaland denies reports of suicide after theft

Published: August 27, 2020

Fans of producer and rapper Timbaland were worried yesterday when rumors the star had committed suicide after a robbery began to circulate. According to reports, Timbaland was distraught over the theft of an alleged $2 million watch, which prompted his family to alert police after he disappeared.

Police then issued a “possible suicide attempt”, Tmz.com reported. According to TMZ, who have obtained a tape of the 911 call, his mother-in-law was panicked when she told the dispatcher that Timbaland was “tired of the stress” and that he was somewhere near a cliff.

A helicopter found Timbaland, whose real name is Timothy Mosely, and took him home unharmed.

Even Ryan Seacrest had taken to the airwaves to report on the alleged suicide during his morning talk show ‘On The Air With Ryan Seacrest’, PopCrunch reported, though he quickly corrected the rumor via his Twitter account. The next morning Timbaland called into Ryan’s KIIS FM show to set the record straight.

“I don’t even know what happened, to be honest. I don’t know what people are talking about,” he said. “I wasn’t talking, so I guess people got worried.

When he was asked about the $2 million watch that had allegedly been stolen, Timbaland said: “Why would I commit suicide? I could buy what was stolen.”

It seems it was a big deal made out of nothing. To put everyone’s mind at ease, Timbaland said what really happened when he left home.

“The only thing I did was take a drive to figure out how I’m going to handle [the theft],” he said.

Celebrities who have had recent overdoses include Jennifer Capriati, Fantasia Barrino and Shawn King.
