Elton John and partner David proud parents of a baby boy

Sir Elton John and husband David Furnish are parents to a healthy baby boy born on Christmas day.
Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, was born to an unidentified surrogate mother in California, weighing 7lb 15oz and 22 inches long.
“We are overwhelmed with happiness and joy at this very special moment,” the music icon and his civil partner said in a joint statement to US.
“Zachary is healthy and doing really well, and we are very proud and happy parents.”
This is the first child for Elton John, 62, and Furnish, 48, who married in 2005 and have been together for 12 years. They tried to adopt an HIV positive child from the Ukraine last year but were blocked from doing so because according to Ukranian law Elton is too old and not married. Ukraine does not recognize homosexual unions as marriage.

They may have signed up to a civil partnership but that is all. They are not married and the one is not the husband of the other. They are merely civil partners. Neither are they both the parents of the child. One of them may be the father but someone else is the mother.
