Ashlee Simpson files for divorce from Pete Wentz

For every Hollywood marriage, it seems, there is a divorce, and Ashlee Simpson and her Fall Out Boy husband Pete Wentz have become the next Tinseltown statistic, almost three years after tying the knot.
The couple and their two-year-old son Bronx Mowgli are always snapped looking like the perfect little happy family, so it comes as somewhat of a surprise that Ashlee has filed for divorce, citing the Hollywood standard: “irreconcilable difference.”
Recent photos of the trio and Pete’s Tweets gave no indication that their marriage was on the rocks. On the contrary. Over the weekend Ashlee and Pete were pictured holding hands and smiling, with their tiny tot comfortably nestled in his mom’s arms.
And just two days ago Pete took to his Twitter, singing praise for his petite wife: “don’t forget 2 notice-when i look into the lil dudes eyes & smile, the way he loves. i realise @ashsimpsonwentz is a good moma + so much more.”
So what went sour between the seemingly happy couple? According to TMZ sources it was Pete’s erratic behavior that pushed Ashlee to file for divorce. “She really wanted out,” the source said.
According to reports the singer, 26, is seeking joint legal custody and primary physical custody of their toddler. She has requested that Pete, 31, be granted visitation rights. She is also asking for spousal and child support. The couple reportedly did not sign a prenuptial agreement.
“After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce,” the pair said in a statement to Daily Mail.
“We ask that everyone honour our privacy as we navigate this next phase of our lives.”
Let’s hope they manage to avoid anything resembling the nasty custody battle Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry are going through.
