‘Curvy’ Lara Stone Stars in New Calvin Klein Ad for Knickers

Calvin Klein has released an ad featuring the new face of its Naked Glamour campaign, the adorably gappy-toothed supermodel Lara Stone.

“Lara Stone is one of the world’s top models and her distinct look and sex appeal resonates with our consumers and has synergized our branded lifestyle advertising campaigns around the world,” says President of Calvin Klein, Tom Murry. This is advertising speak and means that people think she is hot and it helps sell Calvin Klein’s products.

The Dutch supermodel will be the face and clothes hanger for the new collection that we can look forward to seeing in stores in late August.

Previous faces chosen by the fashion label to represent this particular line include actress Zoe Saldana and Eva Mendes.

Lara Stone won the accolade of model of the year at the British Fashion Awards last year and has enjoyed great success ever since. She is currently on the cover of this month’s Vogue Paris; she features in this year’s acclaimed Pirelli Calendar; she is also the face of Tom Ford’s most recent campaign and has been voted top model by models.com, if that means anything to anyone.

Bizarrely, the lofty beauty is sadly married to so-called British comedian David Walliams – famous for 50% of the irritatingly repetitive UK comedy series Little Britain. Just when you thought she had it all.

Besides her trademark gappy teeth, Lara Stone is also famous for being ‘curvy’, which when you look at her in images, makes you wonder what thin is, if that is curvy. True she doesn’t appear to be so thin that she might blow away if David Walliams so much as slips out one of his beguiling comedy voices, but she’s not really that curvy. Still, the fact that she’s a size 4 (US) rather than a zero and not slightly thinner than a skeleton’s fart counts for something. We should be thankful for every tiny step the fashion industry takes away from anorexic looking models and toward those models who look like they might even still have a pulse. Especially after the death of model Isabelle Caro following complications from anorexia last year.
