HIV scare: Jenna Jameson calls porn industry a “ticking time bomb”

Published: October 15, 2020

The world’s most famous porn star, Jenna Jameson, expressed her dismay and sadness in an interview with RadarOnline about the news that a male porn star has tested positive for HIV.

“It was like a ticking time bomb before something like this happened,” the adult entertainer turned entrepeneur said.

“I’m dumbfounded. The fact is that safe sex is not continuously practiced in the adult film world. It’s something that’s left up to the performers and usually the women say yes or no and I think a lot of the women feel pressure to not use condoms because they’re in fear of not getting hired by that company again. It’s very sad and disgusting.”

Jenna, who has her own adult entertainment company, says she encourages her girls to practice safe sex. After all, is it worth risking your life just for the sake of one movie?

These are no doubt trying times for all the girls who have worked with this person in the past - how many people has the virus been passed on to? As Jenna mentioned, this HIV scare is going to have a “ripple effect” on those working in the porn industry.

As a precaution, a number of entertainment companies shut down production yesterday after news that an actor, whose identity has not yet been revealed, tested positive for the virus.

Steven Hirsch, the founder of Vivid, one of the largest makers of adult films, said to Associated Press: “Adult entertainment companies act responsibly, and no one wants to see another person test positive if there’s anything they can do to stop it.”

How responsibly are they really acting, when the use of condoms is not standard practice? Do you think safe sex should be made mandatory in the sex industry?

Read here about Magic Johnson, who found out he had HIV during a routine physical examination, and about Germany’s No Angels singer Nadja Benaissa who was found guilty of spreading the virus.
