Halle Berry falls into depression after two failed marriages

Published: December 27, 2020

Halle Berry, an Academy Award-winning actress, model and former beauty queen, has the career many could only hope to dream of. Her personal life, especially her relationships, live a lot to be desired for.

Though she is known for her quiet nature, this true talent of ‘Monster’s Ball’ fame discussed her failed marriage and her post-partum depression in an interview to ‘Parade’ magazine.

On her suicide attempt after her failed marriages, Halle said: “I was sitting in my car, and I knew the gas was coming when I had an image of my mother finding me. She sacrificed so much for her children, and to end my life would be an incredibly selfish thing to do. My sense of worth was so low. I had to reprogram myself to see the good in me. Because someone didn’t love me didn’t mean I was unlovable. I promised myself I would never be a coward again.”

She now realizes how tough the two divorces were on her. Her first marriage was to a professional baseball player, and went from 1993 to 1996. Her second marriage, to musician Eric Benet, lasted from 2001 to 2003.

“That’s what the break-up of my marriage reduced me to. It took away my self-esteem. It beat me down to the lowest of lows.”

She fought back with her will power and understood the life’s reality along with the essence of staying happy.

She is currently in a relationship with model Gabriel Aubry, with whom she has daugher Nahla, born in March 2008.

Leading a happy and composed life, Halle says: “I will never, never get married again. Actually, it’s just that now I’ve come to a place where I think two people can share their lives without the ring, without the piece of paper.”

Other clinically depressed celebrities include Jim CarreyJ.K. Rowling, Kylie MinogueHugh Laurie and Owen Wilson.
